Not to be dramatic, but my dog is the love and light of my life. He’s going to be eight this year, and because of the nature of my job, we get to spend most days together. Unfortunately, that means that it makes it extra hard for me to leave him when I go out to events, or even leave my house to run errands. I know he’s ok when I’m gone, but I’ve always wondered what exactly he gets up to when he has the house to himself.
I thought it was about time I found out, and with so many indoor cameras on the market, I wanted one that was designed to keeping tabs on pets. I’ve always been interested the Furbo 360° Dog Camera, so I added it to my cart with hopes that it lived up to the hype.
The Furbo 360° Dog Camera was a breeze to get up and running. It took me less than five minutes, and there’s a step-by-step guide included that walked me through the whole process, including seting up the treat dispenser. Since my pet is a treat monster he could sniff them out almost immediately, but the guide noted that it’s normal for your dog to be unsure or scared of the camera at first, and gave some great tips and tricks to get them comfortable with it (which included lots of treats). My pup was a big fan of the treat dispenser, but didn’t like the squeaky toy sound the camera made when a treat was coming out. There’s an option to customize the sound, so I changed it to a custom message using my own voice, which he seemed to like much better.
There are a lot of customizable features you can play around with on the Furbo 360° Dog Camera. I ended up turning off a lot of the alerts that would send a notification to my phone whenever my dog was walking on a carpet or sitting on furniture because he has free reign of the house, but if that’s something you’d like to keep an eye on, it’s nice to know the option for that kind of surveillance is there. I also like that it records clips of any movement, whether it’s someone in your family sitting with them on the couch or a stranger potentially entering the home, meaning it can be used as a backup to other safety features you have like an alarm or video doorbell.
The Furbo app can be used without paying any extra fees, but it does come with a month trial of the Pet Nanny feature, so to give everything a fair shot, I signed up. It uses AI to give you more in-depth analysis of your pet’s behaviour, including an auto-generated “report” at the end of each day along with a video highlight reel of their activity. I liked getting to play around with the bonus features, but for what I need from this camera, and because I don’t leave him home often, I found that the free features will work just fine for me. The best and most important thing is getting to rotate the camera and being able to talk to my dog through the speaker.
After using the Furbo 360° Dog Camera for a month, my most surprising finding was that my dog didn’t just lounge on the couch and sleep until I returned home. I discovered that he actually moved around a lot on our main floor (where the camera is set up) doing his part to guard the house and make sure it was secure while I was away. I didn’t have to watch the live video on the app to find that out, it sent alerts to my phone notifying me that my dog was walking around, sitting on the couch, and it even pinged me when he looked directly into the camera. It let me know if he was barking or crying, and even when the mic could hear him eating from his bowl.
With over 27,000 5-Star reviews, people are loving The Furbo 360° Dog Camera as much as my dog and I do. A lot of reviewers like the quality of video the camera takes (I can vouch, the resolution is pretty good) and the peace of mind it gives them when they leave the house. Customers who use the Furbo Nanny subscription say it’s well-worth their money and love all the smart features it comes with.
